A Ride Through History
Imagine stepping back in time and experiencing African American history through the Reconstruction era, the Great Migration, and the Civil Rights movement right here in the community. Spanning more than 170 years, the Champaign County African American Heritage Trail invites you to dive into incredible stories of resilience, creativity, and progress that have shaped the heart of our area.
Community Bus Tours
Immerse yourself in the vibrant stories and places that celebrate African American heritage in Champaign-Urbana. From cultural landmarks to inspiring individuals, the tour shines a light on the legacy that’s shaped our community. On Monday, February 17, the Trail will offer its first guided community bus tour—and you can be part of it!

There is no cost for this tour. However, we ask that all participants bring a pair of gently used shoes to donate to The Family Room.
