In times of crisis throughout history Champaign County’s community gardens have served a dual purpose – providing healthy food and building a sense of unity and care. Katie Snyder of the Museum of the Grand Prairie will share about the surprising history of Victory Gardens in Champaign County, a tradition that goes back over a century.
You will also learn about Solidarity Gardens with Traci Barkley and MJ Oviatt of Sola Gratia Farm. Solidarity Gardens is the new local community gardening initiative that brings together schools, park districts, farmers, the Cunningham Township and more. The Urbana Free Library is proud to support this initiative with thjeir very own Seed Library.
This program will be shown on the Library’s Facebook page. No preregistration is required.
