The CU Spinners and Weavers Guild started over 50 years ago as a small club. Since then, they have grown into an organization dedicated to promoting the fiber arts in the community through education, demonstrations, and sales.
As part of the Boneyard Arts Festival, the CU Spinners and Weavers Guild will be at the library showcasing their fiber artistry. Stop by to see spinning and weaving in action! The artists will also be exhibiting finished artwork.
From the CU Spinners and Weavers Guild: As spinners and weavers, this group is lucky enough to have the ability to start with a raw material—fleece fresh off the sheep—and turn it into a finished piece of cloth ready to be worn. They will have members showing all steps of the spinning and weaving process, including preparing fiber, spinning it into yarn, and weaving the yarn into cloth. By watching the process from beginning to end, they hope that people will gain a better understanding of what goes into making cloth, whether it is made by hand or by machine. They will also have demonstrations of other fiber arts, including knitting, crochet, and more!
