Gather with other language learners to practice your speaking skills.
Conversation Café is a monthly language exchange program providing a casual gathering space for community members to practice their conversational skills in a language other than their native one, particularly English, Spanish, and French. While they cannot guarantee the presence of speakers of any specific language, the more attendees, the more flexibility there will be. The goal is for participants to divide their time equally between practicing the language they are learning and speaking in their native language to help others learn.
This is a free program, and registration is not required. All are welcome! Light snacks and drinks will be provided. Conversation topics and games will be available if participants need help breaking the ice. Story times and other fun activities for children will be provided simultaneously so that parents and caregivers of young children can more easily participate.
This program is in partnership with the Urbana School District Multilingual Department.
