The Champaign Urbana Spinners and Weavers Guild is a group of people interested in the fiber arts. As the name implies some of us spin and weave, but we are not only spinners and weavers any fiber art/craft is welcome at the Guild. At this event you will have a chance to see some excellent hand made items made by our members, most of which will be for sale.
The sale is always the first Friday and Saturday in the month of November. This year:
Friday, November 1 from 3 pm – 8 pm
Saturday, November 1 from 10 am – 4 pm
Throughout the sale, guild members will be demonstrating their crafts. The highlight of every Show and Sale is the silk reeling demonstration. Esther shows the whole life cycle of the silkworm from egg to larvae to cocoon as well as the process of turning the cocoon into thread. Debbie grows her own cotton and will show the process of turning the cotton boll into cotton yarn. Other members will be spinning, weaving, knitting, drop spindling, tatting, and if there is interest, fiber related children’s stories. Please visit our CUSWG web site or CUSWG Show and Sale Facebook page for a demonstrations schedule
There is free parking in the church lot and along the street. There is no charge to come in and see the fabulous items. Come in and be inspired.
