The goal of the Central Illinois Immigrant Advocacy Symposium is to create space for advocates, community leaders, educators, legal professionals, researchers, and organizers to share knowledge, support one another, and develop a stronger regional network of collaboration.
Among the guest speakers will be Julia Albarracin-Green, Western Illinois Dreamers founder, WIU political science professor and Illinois Humanities Road Scholar.

This event will be held April 11, 2026 from 9-4, at the University of Illinois campus. You are welcome whether you can join in for part or all of the day. While the event is in English, all peoples are welcomed to inform and be informed.
They are planning an educational forum for immigration activists and supporters to learn about legal rights of both citizens and immigrants, to share strategies for supporting immigrant families and to build alliances and services to resist ICE and create welcoming communities.
They held a similar symposium in 2018 and times have certainly changed. They will start at 9 AM with a keynote speaker and then have three tracks that match these three objectives:1. To Share ideas and Bond among advocates in Central Illinois
2. To Prepare Congregations with options for action and immigrant support
3. To Educate each other on immigration issues under this administration
While their aim is to protect privacy, they still need to plan the event so they ask that you fill in as much as possible of this registration form. The organizing committee welcomes questions and expects further communication as ideas come together…or if you want to volunteer for any part. As suggested, they will NOT not charge a registration fee but do hope for help to defray the cost. Thank you for participating and signing up by April 6, at 6 PM.
