We’ve got a roundup of local deals to celebrate National Doughnut Day
Friday, June 6 is National Doughnut Day — not that any of us here at Chambanamoms needs an excuse to indulge in these delicious circles of sweet, sugary happiness. 
Unlike so many other “national days” dreamed up by marketers, National Doughnut (or Donut) Day has a more interesting history. Apparently it originated in Chicago during the Great Depression in 1938, as a Salvation Army fundraiser for the needy. They aimed to memorialize the brave volunteers who served donuts to American troops on the front lines during World War I.
Patriotism? Volunteering? All the more reason to celebrate this Friday with donuts from our favorite local establishments! And if you miss your chance to jump on one of these special deals, never fear — you can still find our Favorite Donuts in Champaign-Urbana any day of the year.
Our list includes a few Doughnut Day deals from national chains, we haven’t confirmed the national offer details with the individual stores. When in doubt, always call ahead.
Dunkin, various locations: Yes, there’s a free donut deal at Dunkin’. Get a free classic donut with any beverage purchase at participating Dunkin’ locations nationwide on June 6.
Industrial Donut, Savoy: Every customer who makes a purchase on June 6 will receive one free cinnamon sugar donut. Open 7 am to 1 pm.
Krispy Kreme, Bloomington and various locations: On National Donut Day, guests can receive any donut of their choice for free, no purchase required. That includes everything from their signature Original Glazed to limited-time specialties, certainly a very generous giveaway (but you have to get there!)
Pandamonium Doughnuts, Champaign: We are eagerly awaiting news about special deals for this special day at Champaign’s artisan doughnut maker. We will update when we have anything.
Paris Baguette, Urbana: On Friday, June 6, PB Rewards members can enjoy a free sugar mochi donut or small twisted donut with any purchase. Paris Baguette is located inside of H Mart.
Parlor Doughnuts, Champaign: On June 6, get a $1 Carnival Layered Doughnut with any regular-priced item (in-shop only), or get $5 off a dozen layered doughnuts. Located in Old Farm Shoppes.
Royal Donut, Danville: We are still waiting on confirmation – in past years, Royal Donut has offered a free bag of 6 donut holes with any purchase (while supplies last).
Ye Olde Donut Shoppe, Champaign: Will they celebrate? We are waiting to hear!
