Desserts, doughnuts, and drinks featuring your favorite Girl Scout Cookies are appearing on menus for a limited time only
Girl Scouts will be happy to sell directly to you starting Feb. 3
If Paul Revere were to ride in 2023, he would probably be proclaiming “Girl Scout cookies are coming! Girl Scout cookies are coming!” because for many of us, the start of cookie season in an otherwise dark and gloomy time of year is just that newsworthy. For Girl Scouts in Central Illinois, the magical date for the cookie sale launch is Feb. 3.
During the following weeks, you can get your annual Girl Scout cookie fix from individual girls, at booth sales, or online. In addition, you can donate boxes of cookies to first responders, the military, and other organizations. Remember that the cookies sold in our area come from ABC Baker, in case you are momentarily confused by different names for some of your favorites.
What if you seek an even more delectable Girl Scout cookie experience? Several area businesses are running limited-time specials of treats made using the cookies, or even inspired by them. We map out what we know below.
Industrial Donut (Savoy)
Industrial Donut got a head start on its 2023 Girl Scout Cookie Month, scheduling the following specials to change each week. In addition, on Saturday mornings a troop will be selling boxes to customers in the store.
- Jan. 30-Feb. 4: The Raspberry Rally: Choco-Razz Icing + Crushed Raspberry Rally Girl Scout Cookies
- Feb. 6-11: The Thin Mint
- Feb. 13-18: The Samoa
- Feb. 21-25: (closed President’s Day) The Lemonades
- Feb. 27-March 4: The French Toast-Yay
Lucky Moon Pies & More (Mahomet)
Lucky Moon plans to offer its delicious Thin Mint brownie (made with Girl Scout cookies) again in 2023. Watch social media for all menu details; these brownies may show up as soon as February 10.
Pandamonium Doughnuts (Champaign and truck)
This year Pandamonium will bring back back its popular Girl Scout Cookie doughnuts, collaborating with the Girl Scouts of Central Illinois since 2015.
Its specials during the month of March will include Thin Mints, Samoa, Tagalongs, and Lemonades. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of these special Girl Scout Donut flavors will go straight back to the Girl Scouts of Central Illinois. As always, keep an eye on social media for the rotating array of specials.
Hopefully back for the first time since 2020: Pandamonium’s Girl Scout Donut Design contest. Local Girl Scouts compete to design a special doughnut inspired by a Girl Scout Cookie flavor, and the winner will have their design actually made into a real recipe and put on the menu at Pandamonium.
Jarling’s Custard Cup (Champaign)
If you have had the chance to experience the Jarling’s Custard Cup/Girl Scout cookie mashup in the past, you are probably awaiting this special weekend as eagerly as we are. From Thin Mint and Caramel DeLite snowstorms to sundaes for the kids, Girl Scout cookies make a super tasty mix-in option for your favorite Jarling’s creation.
Employees have confirmed that when Jarling’s opens on Friday, Feb. 10, and continuing through the close of business on Sunday, Feb. 12 (while supplies last), cookies purchased from Champaign-Urbana Girl Scouts will be available as mix-ins or toppings. Customers can choose between Caramel deLites, Thin Mints, and Peanut Butter Patties. (These cookies will have been purchased by Jarling’s; customers will not be required to purchase a full box of cookies in order to have cookies in their custard.)
If you can’t get enough Girl Scout cookie goodness in your snowstorms and sundaes, a local troop will be at Jarling’s the evening of Feb. 10 and will be happy to sell you full cookie boxes.
Central Illinois Bakehouse
Be on the lookout for Girl Scout Croughnuts at Pekara Bistro and Martinelli’s Market, both in Champaign… and possibly at the Champaign-Urbana Winter Farmer’s Market inside Urbana’s Lincoln Square Mall. Fans can expect the following limited-time croughnut creations:
- Caramel deLites — Caramel-dipped croughnut with a chocolate drizzle, sprinkled with toasted coconut and chopped Girl Scout cookies
- Peanut Butter Patties — Chocolate dipped croughnut with peanut butter filling, topped with chopped Girl Scout cookies.
Hunny Bunny Bakes (Champaign)
Keep an eye out for when Hunny Bunny’s cake jars feature Girl Scout cookies because it only happens once a year. Cake jars last 1 week in the fridge, or 6 months in the freezer. With flavors such as Feeling Adventureful (dark chocolate cake, salted caramel sauce, semi-sweet Swiss meringue buttercream, and chopped Girl Scout Adventureful cookies) or Coconut is Deliteful (yellow butter cake, Amy B’s caramel sauce, semi-sweet Swiss meringue buttercream, chopped Girl Scout Caramel Delite cookies), you may need to stock up.
