Have your child’s car seat checked by a professional for free during Illinois Child Passenger Safety Week
Inspections will be offered at Champaign-Urbana Public Health District for area families
Have you ever wondered if your car seat is installed properly? What about advice on when it is safe to transition your child from a rear-facing car seat to a forward-facing position? Car seat safety can be complicated and this week, during Illinois Child Passenger Safety Week, Champaign-Urbana Public Health District is hosting an event to give parents the opportunity to double check their car seat safety measures.
What: Car seat safety inspections by certified Child Passenger Safety technicians in Champaign-Urbana
When: Saturday, Sept. 24, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Where: Champaign-Urbana Public Health District South Parking Lot, 201 West Kenyon Road, Champaign
Why check your car seats
Lisa Martinez, RN and Child Passenger Safety Technician at Champaign-Urbana Public Health District, says, “Four out of five car seats are installed incorrectly. Improper installation increases the risk of injury to your child. Child Passenger Safety Technicians go through an intensive four day training not only to educate parents and guardians on proper installation, but they also provide hands on assistance. CPS techs are also kept up to date on recalls, laws, and manufacture updates.”
No registration is needed for this one-time event. Simply drive up to the south parking lot at CUPHD and wait for your turn.
