Families can choose from a myriad of events and activities this week in Champaign-Urbana
Let’s put this chilly spring weather we’ve had in April behind us and get excited for MAY! Because May brings so many things – the last days of school, opening days at the pools, new schedules and routines, and just a general switch-up in the pace of things for a three month season of the year. And in a few short weeks, we’ll be there once again!
This weekend is a good time to get in some solid spring fun. We’ll highlight a few of those events below. One event to highlight is the Youth Run happening on Saturday at Memorial Stadium. Together with Christie Clinic, chambanamoms will be there leading the warm-up before the roughly 1K race at Memorial Stadium. Sign up for the run now (for kids 10 and under).
Summer is right around the corner! We have a lot to look forward to and we can’t wait to share it with you!

Featured Event – Live Chat With The Land Connection: Homegrown – From-Scratch Gardening for Any Space
Join us on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at 7 p.m. CT, on the chambanamoms Facebook page as we chat with The Land Connection’s Joan Jach to learn about how you can build your garden, choose exciting plants, and care for your plants. Joan will also share fun and engaging ways for kids to become involved in the garden, making the process enjoyable for the whole family, and empowering for the next generation of gardeners and eaters.
The Land Connection will also share the dirt on FREE resources that you can use right now to jump start your own in-ground or container garden, as well as share information on benefit programs that begin with the start of the outdoor farmers market season. There will also be a fun gardening giveaway for one lucky participant.

The Vault Art Gallery is an art gallery at 100 N. Main St., in downtown Tuscola, Illinois with 40 independent artists housed in a historic former bank. Art is closer than you think!

University of Illinois Athletics
Come enjoy your kid’s birthday with the Fighting Illini. Each party will receive a VIP experience that includes hot dogs, popcorn, reserved seating, cupcakes and more. To make it even better, the party recipient will receive a video board message and a special team item. Additional party experiences vary depending on the sport.

Urbana Park District
The Urbana Park District has a plethora of options for youth in Champaign-Urbana across their many facilities. From swimming lessons and swim team to dance and theater, chess club to nature activities, you can find a number of options to choose from when you’re looking for activities for your children. They do offer extensive programming for preschoolers and have a number of options for teens, too.
