This winter weekend is full of options and brings the month of February to a close

What a month, right? Three rounds of snow in Champaign-Urbana made for lots of good opportunities for sledding and we think this weekend will bring another chance to participate in this budget-friendly winter activity if you haven’t already had your fill. All that to be said, we can’t help but be a teensy bit glad to say goodbye to this month’s winter weather and propel towards spring break and summer, too. Now is the time to sign up for those summer camps, pencil in the egg hunts and snag a pool pass at a discounted price. Remember, you can do both of those things while heating up a big batch of hot cocoa and enjoying the end of the winter season in C-U.

Admissions Webinar: Join Countryside on Thursday, March 3 at 7 p.m. for a free webinar about Middle School! Virtually “see” the classrooms, hear from teachers and students, learn about their COVID safety protocols, hear about the application process, and ask questions.

Countryside School is the area’s first and only ISACS-accredited, independent, K-8 school. They offer an accelerated, hands-on curriculum – including world languages (Spanish, Chinese, and Latin), visual and performing arts, and music. Featured Event – Saturday Engineering for Everyone

Saturday Engineering for Everyone is a free online lecture series aimed at non-engineers who are interested in learning about engineering topics. This week’s lecture is titled “Bioinspired Cameras: Lessons Learned from Nature and Adopted in the Operating Room”. Some of the world’s greatest innovations owe their strength to natural design. Researchers led by ECE professor Viktor Gruev have used elements from the natural world to develop a camera inspired by the mantis shrimp that visualizes cancer cells during surgery.
