Free Morning Movies: Angry Birds Movie 2 and The LEGO Movie, June 3
Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at Savoy 16 are mornings to be excited about. The movie theater will provide free kids movies through the summer, so check out the details here.
Thirteen Thursdays, June 3
Try new restaurants, do some shopping, park for free and see a movie on the Quad, every Thursday through early August.
Friday Night Flix at Hessel Park, June 4
Visit the Champaign Park District staple for a free movie starting at dusk, a perfect way to enjoy a weekend evening in the summer. Bring your own popcorn or enjoy an on-site food trucks (Daves Dogs). This month’s flick: The Sandlot.
Arthur Strawberry Jam Festival, June 4-5
Roll out the strawberry red carpet in the Arthur area as it is the start of festival and fair season in the Heart of Illinois Amish Country. What better way to celebrate late spring and early summer than with America’s favorite fruit, the strawberry, pony rides (Saturday only), a multitude of vendors and some great food all mixed together to create Arthur Amish Country’s Strawberry Jam.
Story Time at the Farm, June 7
Prairie Farm is a dandy spot to bring your kids and enjoy a story amid the animals and beauty of the Champaign Park District’s in-town farm. Bring your blanket and picnic. Starts at 2 p.m.
Movie Night at the Pool, June 11
More Champaign Park District-sponsored fun! Head out to the Sholem Aquatic Center to watch some of your favorite movies. Lay out on the beach, rest in a deck chair, or swim in the lap pool, and enjoy the film. Concessions will be open and serving your favorite movie foods. Regular pool admission rates apply.
Free Airplane Rides for Ages 8-17, June 12
This Parkland College program was a wildly popular pre-COVID staple, and now it’s back. It is vital to note: This requires advance registration, so make sure you check out the details immediately. Takes place at Willard Airport in Savoy.
Boneyard Arts Festival, June 18-20
This three-day event is back in action, and is spread over more than 90 venues, featuring so many types of art, performances, and the like that it can’t be adequately described here. Just make sure you check it out. There are details here and here.
Virtual Juneteenth Celebration with Champaign Park District, June 19
