Virtual Fireworks Shows From Champaign, Arthur, Monticello and More
With fireworks displays in short supply this Fourth of July, here’s some good news: you can watch Champaign-Urbana area fireworks displays from years gone by in the comfort of your own home.
And here’s a bonus: you can even SKIP THE BUG REPELLENT. (We’re all about the silver linings these days.)
By sleuthing around on YouTube, we’ve dug up videos of some of our favorite local fireworks shows from past years. Some of them are even synced up to music.
DISCLAIMER: We claim no ownership of these videos; they are publicly available on YouTube.
Fire up the TV (perhaps you have a big screen?) or put these on a tablet or laptop – whatever the screen you have, get ready for fireworks.
VIRTUAL FIREWORKS SHOWS:
Champaign County IL Freedom Celebration Fireworks 2011
Imagine you are parked a few blocks from the main stage and turn up your sound to hear some favorite patriotic tunes in-sync with the fireworks. (Here’s a bonus video: if you really want the full effect … the entire 2017 Champaign County Freedom Celebration parade can be found HERE, all 80+ minutes of it.)
Arthur Fireworks, 2017
Locals say that the Arthur fireworks – traditionally held the Saturday before the Fourth of July – are the best in Central Illinois. And others say, the Arthur fireworks are better than well, just about anywhere else. When your opening sequence rivals most fireworks shows’ finales, you know it’s going to be pretty darn spectacular. (So spectacular that the camera can barely capture it all.)
Tolono Fun Days, 2016
This is a bit different view of fireworks – filmed with a drone over Tolono. Tolono Fun Days has been postponed until the fall, so there’s still some hope of fireworks later this season. Head over to YouTube to watch this one.
Monticello Fireworks, 2013
For an amateur, this is pretty good quality – love the sky. These are set to Lee Greenwood’s “Proud to be an American” and some other tunes. Head over to YouTube to watch them.
