Say goodbye to May because we’re welcoming June this week, and some new things will be opening up around Champaign-Urbana
If you’re ready to dine outside, plan a camping trip and get your kids’ summer reading started, this is the week for you
Illinois is moving into Phase 3 of the “Restore Illinois” plan, which means that, with continued social distancing efforts and mask wearing when social distancing is not possible, we will have a number of new options to enjoy as a community in and around Champaign-Urbana. Beginning May 29, a number of local restaurants will be opening for outdoor seating in addition to the carry-out they’re already doing.
Outdoor recreation continues to rise to the top of things we can do with our families this summer. You can now plan a camping trip, visit any of Illinois’ state parks, and, at many sites, visit concessions to purchase food or rent canoes/kayaks. If state parks aren’t on your list, check out our list of local spots to go creek stomping, take a walk or hit the hiking trails.
On another note, new camps are being added to our list of summer camps daily these days – some virtual and some in-person… and some beginning next week! You’ll see the virtual camps that have been added at the top of the list and if you scroll down, you’ll see a number of different camps and the status of their 2020 plans since every location is a little different. Make sure you check it out and click on the different camps to read details.
Make sure you subscribe to receive the weekly update from chambanamoms.com via email every week to stay in the loop with all the latest happenings around Champaign-Urbana this summer. We’re committed to having a great one together!
Thanks to Champaign County CASA for bringing us this week’s update. Champaign County CASA needs you to help change a child’s story here in our community. Apply today for virtual training and CASA will prepare you to give hope to a child who has been abused or neglected. More information and application is at casa4kids.org.
