Plan your Presidents Day in Champaign-Urbana
What does Presidents Day — this year falling on Feb. 17 — mean for daily life in and around Champaign-Urbana? Well, most kids are out of school, that’s for one thing. This is certainly one of those days where if you don’t have kids in school, you might go to the post office. Oops.
What else you need to know about Presidents Day 2020 in Champaign-Urbana:
Schools: We don’t know of a public school district that is in session; possibly private schools might be.
Government offices: Federal, state, and county administrative offices closed. City offices are open. (But know that some state of Illinois offices are closed on Feb. 12 and Feb. 15 – more on that HERE.)
University of Illinois: In session.
Postal service: All post offices will be closed.
Courts: Federal, state and county closed.
City Government: City of Champaign and City of Urbana are OPEN.
Banks: Most closed.
U.S. Stock Exchange: Closed.
Libraries: Mixed. Urbana is closed. Libraries that we know are open: Champaign, Mahomet, Tolono, Tuscola, St. Joseph, Allerton (Monticello) and Rantoul.
Transit: CUMTD will operate on regular weekday schedules.
Parking: Presidents Day is NOT a city holiday in Champaign or Urbana. Parking meters should be paid as usual.
Retail, grocery: Business as usual!
