Year after year, Champaign-Urbana comes through with no shortage of options when it comes to things to do with our children of all ages this season. Our community is going to welcome October in with enthusiasm this weekend and we have the scoop on everything you want to know about making the most of it.

While you’re looking for things to do this weekend, go ahead and mark your calendar for a month of fun activities at Lodgic Everyday Community as they celebrate their 1 year anniversary. What: Vet Med Open House
Where: University of Illinois Veterinary Medicine
Why you should go: More than 300 veterinary students from the University of Illinois will host the annual College of Veterinary Medicine Open House. There will be more than 40 exhibits and demos, like cow milking, sheep shearing and service dogs... and LOTS of animals to see. This event is free and open to the public.
JLCU Bright Starts
Junior League Bright Starts provides monthly preschool academic instruction and social-emotional skill-building to children and provide their parents/guardians with ideas to reinforce these skills at home. The program includes the whole family by providing dinner at the start of each session and childcare for siblings. Their sessions for the 2019-20 school year are: October 10, November 14, December 12, January 9, February 20, and April 16.

Why you should go: School is out in Urbana.... so head over to the Indoor Aquatic Center for a swim! Regular admission fees apply.
Where: Rantoul Public Library
Why you should go: As part of TeenTober, come create literary sidewalk chalk art outside the Rantoul Public Library. Draw your favorite book cover or character, write your favorite quote, or design your own book cover, anything goes! They will supply the chalk, you supply the creativity. For Grades 4 and up.

Young Life Fall Bash
Young Life is about relationships. Their mission is to deeply care about and enter the lives of kids. In the midst of relationship with them, they hope to give them a glimpse of what Jesus calls, “life to the full” (John 10:10) and help them grow in their faith.
