Central Illinois Youth Chorus is beginning its 42nd season, offering singing opportunities for youth ages 5 -18 in its four choirs. CIYC singers learn sound vocal technique and musicianship while experiencing the joy, discipline, pride, and teamwork of high-quality choral singing. The chorus offers unique performance opportunities, including performing with the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra.
Dates of Programming: Regular rehearsals are held once or twice per week on Monday and/or Thursday evenings, depending on choir placement. The fall semester runs from Sept. 5 — Dec. 12, with the winter concert on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 3 p.m. The spring semester runs from Jan. 16 — May 2 with the spring concert on Saturday, May 2, at 3 p.m.
Open House: Fall auditions resume on Aug. 15. Contact CIYC to schedule auditions in August.

I-Power offers classes in preschool gymnastics, school-age gymnastics, tumbling and ninja classes. It also hosts birthday parties, Parent Night Out events, field trips and open gym.
Dates of Programming: Session 1 – Aug. 19-Oct. 26, Session 2 – Oct. 28-Jan. 11, Session 3 – Jan. 13-March 28, Session 4 – March 30-June 6, Session 5 – June 8-Aug. 15
Open House: There will be a fall kickoff event on Saturday, Aug. 17, from 6-8 p.m. Inquire with iPower for fees to attend. Registration is ongoing and iPower will prorate fees for any new students that join after the session’s initial start date.
Ages Served: 15 months – 18 years
Location: 215 S. Staley Road, Champaign
Kids of all skill levels can participate in the award-winning Bow-Dacious String Band — now in its 16th season — playing many kinds of popular music, performing widely in the area, developing public presentation and leadership skills, and creating lifelong friendships through music! C4A accepts all strings, flute, keyboards, and percussion; others with consent. Any music student can play with the band; you do not have to take lessons at C4A, although if you want lessons, they teach all ages, beginners to advanced skills, year round.
Dates of Programming: Meets Sundays from 4-6 p.m., Sept. 15 through Dec. 15.
Open House: There is no official open house, but C4A will be performing at the Urbana Sweet Corn Festival at noon on Saturday, Aug. 24, on the One Community Stage on North Broadway Avenue Stop by and meet some of the members of the band!

The Stephens Family YMCA offers programming centered around youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. They strive to be a ray of hope for the community that inspires the community to be better. Programs include swim lessons, gymnastics, youth sports, afterschool and child care, and many more.
Dates of Programming: Session I: Sept. 3 – Oct. 20, Session II: Oct. 21 – Dec. 15 (no classes held Thanksgiving week)

The HEAT is a year-round competitive swim team offering high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities. The goal of the team is to provide every athlete an opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at his or her level of ability, from novice to international competition.
Dates of Programming: Short Course Swim Season August – March; Long Course Season April – July
Ages Served: 3 (sparks – pre swim team) and up
Open House: Group placement swims will be held on Aug. 26 from 4:15-6 p.m. Returning swimmers will be placed on Aug. 27 from 4:15-6 p.m.
Location: Practices are primarily held at the Stephens Family YMCA; however, some practices are held at Centennial High School
Children’s Dance has a long history of dance opportunities for the community. Dance at Illinois presents Saturday morning classes for children ages 3-10 who are yearning to move with joy and dance their hearts out. Classes focus on dance concepts, social skills, creative expression and dance making through free movement.
Dates of Programming: Register today! September 7 – November 2, 2019 (9-week Session $99): Spring 2020 – Registration begins on November 18 January 25 – March 7, 2020 (7-week Session $90)
Ages Served: 3 -10
Location: Dance Studio, 905 W Nevada, Urbana
Urbana Dance Company offers dance classes, workshops and events for all ages. From their drop-in classes, 5 week series for adults, 8-week sessions and 16-week sessions for young people, there is a class designed to meet families’ needs.
Young People’s Classes: Creative Movement ages 7-11 and 12-16, Hip-Hop Dance Team ages 6-16, Contemporary Jazz ages 13 and up, Dance Arts Leadership Program all ages.
Adult Classes: Salsa, Bachata, Tango, Hip-Hop, Belly Dance, Contemporary Techno-Punk-Smooth, Hip-Hop, Contemporary Jazz, Creative Movement, and more. Adult classes is for ages 16 and up, but we often allow mature 14 year olds to take class.
All Ages Programming: Latin Dance and Blues/Swing evening events, evening and daytime performances, Special Time Young People and Allies.
Private and small group lessons are offered to help build self confidence and personal goals.
Dates of Programming: Fall classes begin September 9 and run through December 20th. Pre-registration available for young people, no pre-registration necessary for adults.
