Summer is officially here, and July is packed with PLENTY to do around around Champaign-Urbana. So to keep it all straight, we’ve picked out a few of our many favorites and listed them here so you will make sure not to miss them. They’re listed chronologically. OSF Urgo is Champaign-Urbana’s urgent care clinic for when summertime fun…isn’t. OSF Urgo providers treat minor illnesses and injuries — like insect bites, sunburn, poison ivy, sprains and allergies — in a new, modern setting. Come check out the newest location, opening Tuesday, July 16, at 520 N. Cunningham Ave. in Urbana. OSF Urgo is open every single day of the year, including the 4th of July, from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Best of all, they aim to get you in and out in 40 minutes or less. Our picks for family fun in July around Champaign-Urbana
Champaign’s premiere park is host of the latest event in the Christie Clinic-sponsored playdate series from Chambanamoms, and the theme is a beach party! Come spend a couple hours of fun with us — and don’t forget to bring your swimsuit.
A free concert at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts’ Stage 5, the show features local entertainers (and a chance to sample a variety of wines at half price).
Hot air balloons launching and tethering, mass ascents, fly-ins and balloon glows will populate the Vermilion County Regional Airport. Plus inflatables, face painting, chalking and a variety of kid-friendly events.
Live, local music, food trucks and free fun for one of the Champaign Park District’s signature summer events.
“The Greatest Movie Musical of All Time” is the performance from the Champaign Park District’s Youth Theatre Program at the Virginia Theatre. Comedy, witty dialogue and snappy Broadway tunes make it a fun experience for all ages.
July 22 is Kids Day, but every day is a good day for some fair fun. Admission is just $5 for adults and free for those under 12. And parking is free, too.
Enjoy a variety of food trucks, listen to some fantastic music (featuring Chicago-born, Barcelona-based Alma Afrobeat Ensemble) and soak in a beautiful evening scene — FREE — on the grassy area at the U of I Research Park.
The apple donuts are back! Curtis Orchard opens for the season on July 20, although you’ll have to wait a bit for its signature fall activities, and the Flying Monkey Cafe won’t be available until September.
The next event in the Chambanamoms free summer playdate series presented by Christie Clinic happens at Savoy’s Colbert Park, with the theme of “Everyday Heroes.” Come dressed as your favorite superhero.
FREE movies are on the docket at the Art each Saturday and Sunday in July, and kids are certain to find something they like, from Paddington 2 (July 6-7) to a host of others. Take advantage!
