Keep your kids’ minds in motion during the hotter months with some great Champaign-Urbana area summer reading programs. We put together a roundup of as many of them as we could find, and please, if we’ve forgotten one, let us know.
Summer reading has no age limit. There are programs for kids of all ages, as well as grown-ups. In fact, what a great way to model to your children the importance of reading!
Sign Up Began May 19. Summer Reading Program Runs May 19-Aug. 8
For infants to fourth grade graduates
Register beginning May 19. Each time you read, log the number of minutes on the new Beanstack app or on a paper reading log. Prizes include free books, a library lanyard, and more, based on how many minutes read.
For middle and high school students
Earn a prize every time you read for two hours. Each time you read, log the number of minutes on the new Beanstack app or on a paper reading log. Prizes include Culver’s ice cream scoop, Monical’s individual pizza, Skateland pass and more.

Summer Reading Program Sign Up Began May 18
Register online or at the library. This summer, make time to read the books you love and win prizes just for reading. Read books of your choice (including eBooks and audiobooks), and attend fun programs. Get ready for “It’s Showtime at your Library” this summer.
Summer Reading Program Begins June 8
Come out for a fun party June 8 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., with a magical performance at noon by Jim Perry, magician and illusionist. Sign up to participate in the 2019 Summer Reading Program at TPL while at the event.

The Summer Reading Program runs six weeks in June and July for kindergarten through fifth grade. Stop by the library to find out more information.
Summer Reading Program Runs May 28-Aug. 9
Each participant is invited to fill out a bingo sheet of reading activities. Every bingo you complete will earn you a bead for your brag tag and a raffle ticket (see below) for the end-of-summer prize drawings. Fill out your whole sheet and grab a new one to continue the fun. Each time you earn a raffle ticket, put it in one of the bins for a chance to earn a great prize. Earn raffle tickets all summer; each Bingo will give you another chance at a prize.
Summer Reading Program Begins June 5
The Summer Reading Program kicks off on June 5 and runs through August 2. Get your summer reading booklog and start reading for pleasure and fun prizes.
Summer Reading Program Begins May 29
The Summer Read Opening Bash will be held May 29 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Just come into the library and sign up for the program.
Summer Reading Program Begins June 1
Register here now to be an Allerton Public Library Summer Reader. Readers need to be 3 years old by June 1 and can be entering grade 12. Start logging your reading minutes on June 1 and earn prizes.
