Have an old car seat sitting around collecting dust in the garage? There’s still time to participate in Target’s popular car seat recycling program, back once again in all stores – including Champaign.
This is a much needed service, especially in the Champaign-Urbana area, where there is no consistent option to recycle car seats.
Here’s what you need to know about Target Car Seat Recycling Trade-In Program:
- April 22 through May 4, bring any unwanted car seats to the Champaign Target store and receive a coupon for 20 percent off a new car seat, booster seat, car seat base, travel system, stroller or select baby gear.
- When you get to the store, bring your used car seat to the drop-off box located near Guest Services, and the team member there will give you the coupon. Guests can get one coupon per seat dropped off, and the coupon is eligible through May 11, 2019. This coupon can be stacked with existing baby sale items, such as 10% off select car seats.
- The old car seats will go to Waste Management. According to Target, Waste Management will recycle the parts to create things like pallets, plastic buckets and construction materials such as steel beams and carpet padding.
Target introduced its first car seat trade-in program in April 2016. Since the program launched, more than 496,000 car seats, or 7.4 million pounds of car seats, have been recycled, according to the company.
All car seat brands will be accepted for recycling. Questions? Check out their FAQ.
