Thank you to our friends at Health In Harmony for sponsoring our Top 5 Things to Do on Mother’s Day. Health In Harmony is a wellness center providing excellent Massage and Body Therapies, including Esthetics and Restorative Exercise. Each treatment is tailored specifically to our guest’s needs. Every client is equally important whether seeking treatment for an injury, relaxation or for skin care.
The Mother’s Day options seem limitless, especially if the weather is nice on May 12. But some options are better than others, and Chambanamoms endeavors to serve up a few ideas of Mother’s Day activities to help mom feel appreciated on her dedicated day, as well as providing fun for other members of the family.
Visit the Monticello Railway. If mom has never been, this is a good time to take her for a ride on a vintage train. (Moms ride free with a paid fare.) The Railway Museum offers a neat look at how the train actually looked when it was operating decades ago.
Take mom to brunch, though you need to hurry to make a reservation. Because Mother’s Day also falls on graduation weekend for the U of I, many local restaurants are booked solid, so don’t be hesitant to look at out-of-town options.
Take mom for a flower crown workshop at Allerton Park in Monticello. Learn how and when to harvest flowers for a crown. Materials and flowers will be provided, and each participant will take home a crown. Reservations are limited.
Get out and revel in some of the best places to enjoy nature near Champaign-Urbana. Unplug, unwind and treasure The Great Outdoors with your family.
Regardless of how the weather behaves, the Spurlock Museum will be open for its family-friendly Spurlock Sundays in May series – scavenger hunts, touchable artifacts and more. On Sunday, May 12, the theme is hats. Best part: completely free!
