It’s that time of year! Spring, Mom’s Weekend at the University of Illinois, and one of our favorite Champaign-Urbana events: the Boneyard Arts Festival, held April 4-7 for 2019. Which means that it will be a crazypants weekend filled with family fun that won’t break the bank.
The vast majority of Boneyard Festival Events are family-friendly. But as we all know, some are more family-friendly than others; some you will find on the chambanamoms.com events calendar, and others you won’t.
These venues listed below have live performances and/or interactive events to keep your kiddos occupied.
A few exceptions: venues displaying local children’s artwork, because who doesn’t want to see their friends’ artwork? Best of all, they are ALL FREE (of course artwork will be available for purchase everywhere, so be prepared).
Thank you to the Boneyard Arts Festival for sponsoring this guide. Presented by 40 North | 88 West – Champaign County Arts, Culture & Entertainment Council – the Boneyard Arts Festival is an annual four-day event showcasing the broad range of creative activity flourishing in our community.
Presented annually every spring by 40 North, the Boneyard Arts Festival is a four-day event showcasing the broad range of creative activity flourishing in our community. Its goal is to bring together local artists, businesses and organizations for a special event showcasing the art of Champaign County. The festival stimulates cultural, economic, social and educational growth by providing an opportunity for people of every age, background and interest to participate.
More than a traditional arts walk, the Boneyard is a unique countywide celebration that takes place in a wide variety of venues (over 100!) — both traditional (theaters, cafes, galleries & museums) and non-traditional (salons & retail stores) — and features the work of literally hundreds of artists. Sculptors, weavers, painters, photographers and other visual artists join musicians, actors, dancers, poets and performers of all kinds in sharing their creativity throughout Champaign, Urbana, U of I Campus, Rantoul, Homer, Mahomet, St. Joseph and Sidney.
