Babies R Us in Champaign is again set to offer 25 percent off a baby gear or furniture item with a trade-in of gently used baby clothing. The in-store nationwide event allows customers to trade in their old, outdated, outgrown or unused qualifying gear and furniture items in exchange for savings when you buy a new item.
The event starts Feb. 11 for loyalty card members and Feb. 16 for all others. It ends March 18.
What’s new this year: Used baby crib and toddler mattresses are eligible for trade-in. Baby clothes are also eligible. Here’s a complete list of eligible items: bassinets, bouncers, car seats, car seat bases, clothing, clothing accessories, cribs, crib/toddler mattresses, entertainers, high chairs, infant chairs, infant swings, jumpers, playards, pop n plays, shoes, strollers, toddler/twin beds, travel systems and walkers.
Babies R Us has said it plans to donate gently used clothing to local charities for re-use.
Babies R Us does accept car seats but the company apparently does not plan to recycle them. For those who are seeking options for car seat recycling, we wrote about Target’s occasional program that accepts car seats for recycling. Target has not announced plans for another event but it did host one in April 2017.
Here are all the details of the Babies R Us program.
