It’s the first edition of 2017 for this weekly series, featuring free street-side performances. Chances are, no matter what type of music you prefer, you’ll find interesting and enjoyable acts each Friday through Labor Day weekend.
Champaign’s Kaufman Lake is the site for a free chance to earn prizes (while getting a free hot dog lunch!). Bring your own tackle; bait will be provided.

Chambanamoms offers another series of free summer playdates, and we’re kicking it off with a pool party at Indian Acres.
One of our favorite annual fairs and festivals in C-U! Pack a picnic, bring a blanket and some chairs and settle in for an afternoon of family fun. This event features free ice cream, strawberries (while supplies last), music, and hayrack rides around picturesque Meadowbrook Park. Live folk music seals the deal.
Celebrate the 152nd anniversary of Juneteenth, the oldest known celebration commemorating the abolition of slavery in the U.S. Learn more about the history of Juneteenth and also enjoy music, food trucks, arts and crafts, and a bounce house at Douglass Park.
If dad hasn’t been on the train yet, now’s the time. Dads ride free with a paid fare! There are trains on both Saturday and Sunday, with a special early train (11 a.m.) on Sunday.
Did someone say fireworks? The booms are set off on Saturday, but there’s plenty more to offer: inflatables, a movie in the park and vendors, among other things.
Experience a fun morning of outdoor play at the Urbana Park District’s new Friendship Grove Nature Playscape!
