New Programs at Champaign Park District include drawing & painting program, “The Themes of Fall”, and the Douglass Lions Spirit Team.
The Themes of Fall
Using themes associated with fall such as the colorful leaves, campfires, pumpkins, and s’mores, aspiring artists will become familiar with the basic elements of drawing and painting. They will learn how to mix color and handle paint brushes as they work on projects that include still life, landscape, and portraiture.
Douglass Lions Spirit Team
Girls and boys in grades 2-5 are welcome to join this recreational spirit team. Practices will be held twice a week with opportunities for performances during Champaign Park District sporting events!
Dates: The Themes of Fall: September 9 – November 11, Saturdays 9-10:30am; Douglass Lions Spirit Team: October 3 – December 19, Tuesdays/Thursdays 6:15-7:15pm

In the Illinois String Academy, students, parents and teachers work together to create a fun and rewarding environment for children and young adults learning to play the violin, viola … and new this year, the cello!

Dates: Private lesson enrollment accepted throughout the year. Registration deadline for group classes is September 8.

Take a Child Outside Week
Take a Child Outside Week encourages children and adults to spend time together outdoors,
help children better understand and appreciate the environment, and join the national effort to
reconnect children with nature.

The Stephens Family YMCA offers programming and memberships centered around youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. We strive to be a ray of hope for the community that inspires us to be better. Programs include swim lessons, gymnastics, youth and adult sports, afterschool and child care, personal training and many more. Included in your membership is the opportunity to take part in our land and water group exercise classes and utilize up to two hours per day of child watch while you’re at our Y.

Fierce Girl Fridays are all about empowering young girls so they can face the challenges of growing up in the digital age and learn to THRIVE in upper elementary and middle school! Utilizing the 7 Habits of Happy Kids, interactive games, supportive girl bonding activities, and excellent female role-models as leaders – the group is designed with the developmental and emotional needs of your daughter in mind – helping her to become the best version of herself!

Celebrating our 40th season, CICC offers choral music instruction by highly skilled staff and provides unique performance opportunities. The chorus appears in U of I productions, sings with the C/U Symphony, and has 2 concerts (Winter and Spring) each year.
Dates: Auditions – by appointment in August

Spring Semester – January – April, 2018
Ages Served: We have 4 choirs that serve singers from 5-18. An audition determines placement in the appropriate choir level.

We offer a variety of gymnastics programs to enhance physical fitness and social attributes for kids. Our staff bring years of coaching expertise with fun and empowering classes — kids gain coordination, flexibility, balance, power, strength and friends. A basis in gymnastics can help children with skills in ALL sports! Also supervised Birthday bash or party room available for awesome family fun!
Dates: Fall Session I starts MONDAY, AUGUST 28. Sessions are 4 wks. each, but you can sign up anytime. Come in for a free trial class.
Ages Served: From Tiny Tots (age 2) to Preschoolers, Boys & Girls , Competitive Team, and even adult gymnastics!
Location: Hayasaki Gymnastics Center, 309 Tiffany Court, Champaign
Jump into our study of entomology as we explore magnificent critters that can walk on water or fly across the continent. Become an engineer and choreographer while building and programming robots to dance to your favorite song! This fun STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) enrichment program provides students in kindergarten through fifth grade a safe place to explore and create after their day at school. STEAM Studio offers transportation from most Champaign-Urbana schools, recess time to unwind, homework time, and snack before starting their fun labs and activities. Join us as we talk with experts in the community, solve real-world problems, present our solutions, and much more at Next Generation’s STEAM Studio.
