CobraFest at Loose Cobra: The music starts at 4 p.m. July 8 on indoor and outdoor stages at Loose Cobra in Tolono. Performers include Cloakroom, Djunah and Centaur, among others.
New to C-U Summer Mixer: If you moved to C-U in 2020 or after, jump on this chance to mix and mingle with folks just like you at Riggs Beer Company in Urbana on July 10. NOTE: Must RSVP by July 7.
Mulholland Drive at the Virginia Theatre: The Arthouse Experience Film Series presents David Lynch’s 2001 psychological thriller that follows an aspiring actress who befriends a woman suffering from amnesia after a car accident. A post-show discussion follows. Tickets are $7.
Big Thorn theater: Visit Big Thorn Farm and Brewery in Georgetown on July 12-13 for hand-crafted beer, dinner from The Truck and a theatrical performance of Airness by KottrGrimm Theatrical Storytellers. Get tickets here.
Tiki Night at Pour Bros.: As the folks at Pour Bros. put it, “‘Patio Paradise: A Tiki-Drink Ho’olaue’a’ is back for a 2023 run!” It’s happening July 15 at the Champaign taproom, so dress the part and down some inventive cocktails.
Halloween in July at Rose Bowl Tavern: Dance to spooky music, chow down with food trucks, win the costume contest and enjoy the sounds of Carnivale Debauche as part of the Urbana bar’s Halloween in July on July 21.
Wednesday Wine and Design with Ladro Enoteca: Join Thad from Ladro Enoteca and Andrea from A. Hunt Design for a fun evening of flowers and wine at the CU flower house on July 26. It includes a flower-arranging tutorial (yours to keep!), a glass of wine and full wine tasting.
Poetry and Painting with Urbana’s Poet Laureate: This 21-and-up event on July 27 at Analog in Urbana features the city’s poet laureate, Ja Nelle Davenport-Pleasure, in an evening of watercolors, poetry and wine.
Ann Wilson of Heart at Virginia Theatre: One-half of the famous sister duo Heart will perform July 27 at the Virginia. Check out the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winner.
Ride the Cyclone: The Musical: The Station Theatre in Urbana presents this funny, moving look at what makes a life well-lived. Directed by Nathan Bohannon.
Head to the Fair: So don’t tell your kids you’re going to the fair without them, but make plans to spend at least one night there without your children. Whether it’s in Fisher or Urbana, there’s plenty of options for a fun grownup night on the town. Head to the midway, demolition derby, or the beer tent.
