You won’t go eggless in Champaign-Urbana (and beyond) this Easter season - there are egg hunts ‘aplenty all over East Central Illinois in the weeks to come. But, Easter is “early” so not as many as we’ve seen in years past and many fall on the same date! Some require advance registration and have a fee; others are come-as-you-are and most are free. But none of them last very long; when it comes to hunting down candy, kids are QUICK. Don’t forget to bring your baskets! Urbana Park District’s Egg Hunt with a Splash: The area’s only egg hunt in the water! Register by March 15 for this annual favorite event, which takes place on Saturday, March 23 at the Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center. For kids 2-13; various age group hunts will be held at different times starting at 9 a.m. The fee is $6 for residents and $12 for non-residents and includes admissions to the Egg Hunt plus one daily admission pass. Register by calling 367-1544.
Eggstravaganza in Mahomet: Children 0-10 will have the opportunity to meet the Bunny and have fun with a good ole’ fashion egg hunt, find a golden egg for a special prize! Three age categories available; from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 30 at Grace Church, 800 W. Oak St. Pre-registration is required; deadline March 26. $5 per child; proceeds benefit Mahomet Parks and Recreation District Scholarship Fund.
Rantoul Public Library Easter Egg Hunt: For kids 8 and under, from 10 to noon on Saturday, March 30. Call to sign up for a 50-minute slot. Register before March 28 at (217) 893-3955.

5th Annual Monticello Recreation Easter Egg Hunt: March 23. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. at Forest Preserve Park; hunt begins at 10 a.m. $1/child. For ages 10 and under; two age divisions will be held.
Tuscola Easter Egg Hunt: Head out to Ervin Park in Tuscola on March 23 (rain date March 30). The festivities start at 9 a.m. Free, for ages 2-10.
Egg-stravaganza in Savoy: The Bunny will make a stop at Prairie Fields Park in Savoy on March 23. In the event of inclement weather the Egg-Stravaganza will be held at the Savoy Recreation Center. Ages 1-4, 10:00 am; ages 5-8, 10:30 am. Free; no registration required. For more information, call (217) 359-3550.
Free Easter Egg Hunt Sponsored by Inside Out Church: Sunday, March 24 at 10:30 a.m., Savoy Recreation Center (402 Graham Drive). You won’t just hunt for thousands of eggs, but the Easter Bunny will be present for pictures and you will be amazed by a magician! It is not required, but you may pre-register at www.myioc.org. For Ages 2-10.
He Lives! Easter Egg Hunt for Children, Youth and Families: Sunday March 24, 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Kids of all ages are welcome and families are invited as well. The party will include lunch, games, and of course, egg hunts for young children and elementary school aged kids. At St. Joseph United Methodist Church in St. Joseph, 205 N. Third Street.
New Horizon Church, Champaign: On March 24 we’re dropping 7,000 Easter eggs from a helicopter! Join us for hot dogs at 12:30 and then the eggs fly at 1:00. 3002 W. Bloomington Road.
St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce Annual Easter Egg Hunt: March 24 at 2 p.m., at Crestwood Park. Rain date, March 30 at 11 a.m.
Meadowbrook Community Church 12th Annual Easter Carnival and Egg Hunt: March 30 from noon to 2 p.m. For children up to age 12. Admission is free; at registration, every child will receive a coupon for a free hot dog, chips and drink. Champaign
Farmer City’s Annual FREE Easter Egg Hunt: Over 10,000 EGGS! Candy! Prizes! AND this year GAMES/Entertainment during registration. Starts at noon on March 30, South Park, Farmer City. More info on this Facebook event page.
Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church Egg Hunt: Saturday, March 30; 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church, 600 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Urbana. Breakfast is from 9 to 11 a.m. and the Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 10:00 a.m. For ages Pre-K to 5th grade. For more information call 367-5924. Free.
Champaign Park District’s 23rd Annual Egg Hunt: Head to West Side Park on March 30 at 11 a.m. (sharp) in downtown Champaign where thousands of eggs wait to be found. Free hayrack rides will take place before the event from 10-10:45 a.m and there will be a special guest on site for all the little egg hunters to enjoy! For children ages 10 and under; divided into age groups. Free.
Douglas Park Egg Hunt: Noon, March 30, for ages 1 to 8. The egg hunt will start promptly at noon – remember your basket for all your goodies. Sponsored by Champaign Park District; free.
Community Easter Egg Hunt: The First Wesleyan Church of Urbana is sponsoring a free Easter Egg Hunt at Victory Park (corner of Wabash and Green, in Urbana) on Saturday, March 30, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Children ages 2-10 are welcome to participate. ALL families are encouraged to come! In case of inclement weather the event will be relocated to the Church (408 E. Illinois, Urbana). Info: 217-367-4566
University of Illinois athletics egg hunts: There will be egg hunts at the University of Illinois baseball and softball games on March 30 (baseball game starts 1 p.m., softball at 2 p.m.) as well as the University of Illinois women’s tennis match at Atkins Tennis Center on March 31 (match starts at 11 a.m. and Bunny will also appear). All three events are FREE.
