At chambanamoms.com, we are big fans of anything that improves the quality of life for families in our fine city. And that is what Krannert Center for the Performing Arts is striving to do, starting with high-caliber family-friendly entertainment this Friday night and Saturday — and you can go on US! That’s right, chambanamoms.com is a proud sponsor of Krannert Center for the Performing Arts this season. And the good folks over in Urbana have given us family four-packs to give away to TWO lucky chambanamoms.com readers for this weekend’s fantabulous shows. So, what’s STREB?
The Pittsburgh City Paper calls STREB: FORCES ”part dance, part circus, part stunt show.”

STREB will be at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts for two shows, at 7 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday. STREB photo
Elizabeth Streb seeks to understand the content of movement and probe the boundaries of physical limitation through her PopAction choreography that nimbly weaves dance, athletics, boxing, rodeo, the circus, and Hollywood-style stunt work. The Evel Knievel of dance—who also happens to be a MacArthur “Genius” Grant awardee, Guggenheim fellow, and two-time Bessie Award winner—built STREB from a daring vocabulary of muscle and motion.
This performance will last approximately 1 hour and 44 minutes, and is recommended for kids 4 and up. The performances will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, and a matinee at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6. Tickets are $32 for adults, and $10 for youth. That makes this prize worth approximately $84! We have one family four-pack available for each show.
Get your family four-pack by leaving a comment and tell us: what live stage shows would your family like to see come to Champaign-Urbana?
For a second entry, share this post on your favorite social media site. Be sure to come back and leave another comment to let us know that you did, with a link, please.
Ready, Set, Go!

I would love to see more children’s music acts / performers (like Dan Zanes, who comes almost yearly). Anything that works for a larger age span – very young (2 or 3) to older.
I love getting the opportunity to win…thank you!
We like Sesame Street shows and maybe Thomas the Train live shows…
I’m sure my kids would love more of the cheesy live action shows – Thomas the Train, Barbie on Ice, that sort of thing. I wish we could have hosted the Tour of Champions with the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics team.
We would love to see Disney on Ice over the winter! Thanks for this opportunity for families that don’t get to go to things like this often (or ever!).
A return visit by the American Boychoir would be great!
I would love to see more stage performances like they have at the Indianapolis Children’s museum. These are free when you pay entrance to the museum. But we would definitely be willing to pay a fee to see these. My daughter (8) loves live performances!
I shared it on Facebook. I don’t know how to send you the link, but it’s on my page!
I would for the cirque du soleil to come back to Champaign.
Ditto Dan Zanes. In general I would like to see more weekend matinees at krannert.
The top vote from my children would be the Imagination Movers, followed by Dora in close second.

I think Krannert Center does a great job of bringing interesting live acts here to town. I’m always up for seeing Sweet Honey in the Rock again. And what a treat it was to see the Indigo Girls here (did that really happen??). I’d love to see Gustavo Dudamel conduct, but if that’s not possible since he’s so busy in LA and Sweden these days, how about the youth orchestra he directed for years in Venezuela? especially if they could present community music programs about their innovative El Sistema for teaching music to children and transforming lives in the process? Clarinda MacLow, based in NYC, is always doing something interesting — performance, dance, word, presence, conjuring and collaborating. Hmm, a sound artist like Ed Osborn in performance and creating an installation. Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion, who have rocked the Urbana Free Library but could easily command a larger venue. Lila Downs. Kitka! Ok, I’m going to stop now….
Another vote for Cirque du Soleil to come to town!
It would be great to have Dan Zanes or Justin Roberts again.
I would like to see Blue Man Group come
I think my whole family would like STOMP, but I won’t hold my breath
i feel there are many opportunities in chambana to attend live family friendly cultural events, the problem is the time!
I would like to see more kids shows like Sesamee street live.
My family loves any type of acrobat act! Cirque du soleil is our favorite.
We would love to see Seussical The Musical!
Posted link on FB. Thanks! =D
My boys would LOVE to see the group STOMP, actually, but there would be repercussions (ha): they’d be drumming on every possible surface in the house for weeks or even months afterward! If their reaction to the videos is any indication, that is.
Cirque du Soleil! For family, we loved Shrek at Assembly Hall! I personally enjoy watching new adaptations of Shakespeare, too!
My son would love to see Disney on Ice!
I would love for my kids to have the opportunity to see more shows here. Sometimes when a show comes to town, it is for one night and it’s on a weeknight which doesn’t work for us. I would love to see Imagination Movers come here too!!! I hear the show is great, and the performers spend the time to give autographs too..
We’d love to see plays and musicals geared towards children … Suessical the Musical sounds cute
We love Krannert!
Posted to fb too
Disney on ice would be great! More kid friendly acts at the Assembly Hall!
We loved the Kabuki performed by the school from Japan which featured both kids and adults. And Dan Zanes, of course!
Blue Man Group would be great!
