Champaign-Urbana Prepares For Flu Season; Shots Now Available

Credit: MorgueFlie

Flu season is just around the corner and getting a flu shot is the best way to avoid coming down with the most dreaded bug of the year.

And remember: Those most vulnerable to the flu are the very young, the elderly, pregnant women and those with compromised immune systems.

In Champaign-Urbana, you can get a flu shot as early as Sept. 29 at clinics, although some of the pharmacies are already offering it (but many don’t have it for children).

Flu shots are available for anyone six months or older. Anyone can get a flu shot as long as they do not have an allergy to eggs. These vaccines are covered by most insurance companies, but if a patient has questions they should check with their carrier.

We will be adding local flu clinics as they are announced, please check back often to find out when and where you can get vaccinated.
