2012 Champaign-Urbana Area Fall Festivals

Just because summer is “over”, doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy a few festivals here and there. Here’s a guide to fall festivals in East Central Illinois. We’ve probably missed a few, so please let us know; please note, we will launch our 2012 Champaign-Urbana Fall/Halloween Event Guide on Oct. 1.  What is your favorite?

One of the many fun festivals ahead this fall

What: Apple  & Pork Festival

When: Sept. 29-30
Where: C.H. Moore Homestead, Clinton
How much: Free entertainment; food for sale
Highlights: Free admission to the grounds. Entertainment, flea market, pony rides, museum tours, craft area, and over 30 food booths.  Click the link for the schedule for specific events. 

What: Railroad Days
Where: Monticello Railway Museum
When:  Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 22-23, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
How much: concessions; unlimited ride tickets – $18 adults, $10 kids
Highlights: Unlimited rides, including Motorcar rides; experience the rails just like maintenance workers of the past.

What: Midtown Fall Festival
Where: banks of the Boneyard Creek, Champaign
When: October 6, 2012 – 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM
How much: Unknown
Highlights: Join the Champaign Center Partnership and Midtown Businesses for a family friendly day of fun and games at the First Annual Midtown Fall Festival.  The festival will be all afternoon along the banks of the Boneyard Creek in the heart of the Midtown District.  Events include pumpkin decorating, scarecrow contest, music, and more.
