Do you love roller derby?
If you do (or even if you don’t know what roller derby is) you’re in luck! Champaign-Urbana is home to the knock ‘em, sock ‘em Twin City Derby Girls, a team of local ladies who tear up the skating rink!
We have a pair of tickets to give away to the July 29 bout against the Boneyard Bombshells at Skateland Savoy!
Here’s some info about the event:
It is all even heading into the second half stretch of TCDG’s 2012 home team season. Each team sports a 1-1 record, as the Boneyard Bombshells and The ‘Paign meet for their rematch.
This time doors open at 5 p.m. with a 6 p.m. start, instead of the previous 7 p.m. whistles for the first two bouts. Tickets are $8 in advance at brownpapertickets.com, or $10 at the door. Children eight and under are admitted free.
The ‘Paign endured their first loss of the season July 15, falling 109-95 to the Damagin’ Dames, who picked up their first win. Dames’ Punchwrap Supreme was named MVP by her ‘Paign peers, while Sasha Smashmouth collected purple’s respect.
Now she and her blue crew seek their second win overall as well as second win over the Bombshells, who also seek their second win overall as well as second straight. Round and round it goes, where the season will stop, nobody knows. Come see what excitement will transpire on the next leg of this wild ride. A portion of the proceeds will benefit TCDG’s charity partner R.A.C.E.S. It’s a win-win: support a good cause and your local roller derby.

Wow, what a great thing you are doing. We don’t get out much being a single family income like others I am sure. We have never seen a live roller derby event and I think my kids would love it! It would make a great family night for the four of us, and expose my children to a new and exciting womans’ sport.

My brother-in-law from The Netherlands is visiting and he has never seen a roller derby bout! We would love to introduce him to this great sport and show off the best Roller Derby League in the US!
I’m so smitten with TCDG! I went to the league championship game last year (awesome!) and haven’t been since because we just can’t afford to go out very often. I’d love to get tickets to the upcoming bout.
