Doesn’t it seem like summer just began? Well, we’re not trying to rush you, like the signs in all the big box stores — but it is true that it’s time to start thinking about getting ready to get back to school. In fact, the balanced calendar schools in Champaign get started the week of July 23! Without further a do – we present the first installment of our Back-to-School Guide for Champaign-Urbana and surrounding areas.
We’re put together a list of the dates for public school registration.
Here’s some tips for registration:
- remember to come prepared with STATE-REQUIRED documents – photo ID and proof of residency.
- To save time, print out and complete required registration forms ahead of time.
- Bring your checkbook to pay required school fees.

SCHOOL REGISTRATION:
Champaign Unit 4 Schools (traditional calendar) Registration is at your child’s school:
Champaign Early Childhood Center Registration: Thursday, Aug. 9 12:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Elementary School Registration: Aug. 9 12:00– 6:00 p.m.
Middle School Registration: Aug. 9 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. & 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
High School Registration, Freshmen: Aug. 8 12:00 – 6:00 p.m.; All Grades: Aug. 9 12:00 – 6:00 p.m. Aug. 10, 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Wednesday and Thursday, August 1 and 2 for grades K-12, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Evening hours will be reserved for those unable to register during the daytime hours. K-6 registration will be in the grade school office and 7-12 registration will be in the grade school library.
Heritage CUSD 8
Students will register Wednesday, Aug. 8 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Thursday, Aug. 9 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at both school sites.
Mahomet-Seymour
Middletown Registration – Monday, Aug. 6, from 12-2 p.m. and 4-7 p.m.; Sangamon and Lincoln Trail Registrations – Thursday, Aug. 9 from 2-7 p.m.; Junior High Registration – Tuesday, Aug. 7, 12-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. AND Wednesday, Aug. 8 7:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.; High School Registration – Thursday, Aug. 9, 12-2 p.m. and 4-7 p.m. AND Friday, Aug. 10 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Monticello
All school registration, Aug. 8-10, at Monticello Middle School. Wednesday, Aug. 8: 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; Thursday, August 9, 12:00 p.m. -6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Paxton-Buckley-Loda
Registration for K-8 – August 6 12:00 – 7:00 p.m. Registration for High School – August 6 12:00 – 7:00 p.m.; August 7 & 8 - 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.; 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. (New High School students should register on August 8.)
Registration at all three schools will be Aug. 6 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Aug. 7 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.; and Aug. 8 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. North and south elementary schools will also register Aug. 7 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Registration for the fall began at the end of last year, as has kindergarten and new incoming student registration. If you have a question about registration, you can contact the Central Office at 893-4171.
Rantoul Township High School 193

St. Joseph CCSD 169
St. Joseph Grade and Middle Schools will be having registration for the 2012-13 school year on August 8 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. All students K-8 will be registered at the Middle School in the cafeteria.
St. Joseph-Ogden High School 305
Aug. 6 is registration for students new to the district, from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 7 is registration for freshmen, from noon to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 8 and 9 are registration for sophomore, junior and senior students. Doors are open noon to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Aug. 8 and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 9.
Unit 7 Schools
Registration will be Aug. 8 and 9. Elementary and Junior high registration will be held at Unity Junior High School from noon to 7 p.m.; high school registration will be held at Unity JHS media center from noon to 7 p.m.
Urbana School District 116
The Urbana Schools annual registration for the 2012-13 school year for ALL students will be held at the Urbana Middle School on Tuesday, July 31, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.; Wednesday, August 1, and Thursday, Aug. 2, 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Registration is on Aug. 6 from noon to 8 p.m. and Aug. 7 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
