You won’t go eggless in Champaign-Urbana (and beyond) this Easter season - there are egg hunts ‘aplenty all over East Central Illinois in the weeks to come. One of them is even for our CANINE friends! Some require advance registration and have a fee; others are come-as-you-are and most are free. But none of them last very long; when it comes to hunting down candy, kids are QUICK. Don’t forget to bring your baskets!

The Doggie Detective Egg Hunt, Saturday, April 2 at the Urbana Dog Park on Perkins Road. $8 resident/$16 non-resident if registered by March 25; $10 resident/$20 nonresident if registered by 4pm on April 1. Plastic eggs will be filled with doggy surprises, treats and prize coupons. Your furry friend can sniff out the goodies and collect them with your help. This is a leashed event so one handler per dog is required. Kids under the age of 6 are not allowed in the dog park.
First Wesleyan Church Egg Hunt: April 9, 2-4 PM, Prairie Fields Park, Prairie Rose Lane, Savoy. Free event for ages 2-10. Bring your camera for pictures with the Easter Bunny. Register in advance at urbanafwc.com or 2-2:30 in the park. Sponsored by First Wesleyan Church, 408 E. Illinois St., Urbana
Urbana Park District’s Egg Hunt with a Splash: The area’s only egg hunt in the water! Register by April 9 for this annual favorite event, which takes place on Saturday, April 16 at the Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center. For kids 2-13; various age group hunts will be held at different times (see Web site for complete info). The fee is $6 for residents and $12 for non-residents and includes admissions to the Egg Hunt plus one daily admission pass. Register by calling 367-1544.
Eggstravaganza in Mahomet: Children 0-10 will have the opportunity to meet the Bunny and have fun with a good ole’ fashion egg hunt. Saturday, April 23 at Grace Church, 800 W. Oak St. Pre-registration is required; deadline April 5. $5 per child; proceeds benefit Mahomet Parks and Recreation District Scholarship Fund.
Rantoul Public Library Easter Egg Hunt: April 23 at 9 a.m. Hear a story, create a craft, and hunt for eggs. Registration is required by calling 217-893-3955, or sign up at the Children’s Desk at Rantoul Public Library, 217-893-3955, 106 W. Flessner.

Champaign County YMCA Easter Egg Hunt and Family Fun Night: Friday, April 1, 6:30 – 8:30 pm at the Fitness and Family Center location (707 N. Country Fair Drive, Champaign). Egg hunt first; once all the eggs have been found, kids will have fun playing in the gymnastics area, enter a coloring contest and games in the gym. Don’t forget your Easter Basket!
Easter Egg Hunt at Tuscola’s Ervin Park: Saturday, April 2 at Ervin Park, North Baseball Diamonds. Registration at Back Pavilion from 9-9:25 am. First Hunt Begins at 9:30 am – Age Groups are 2; 3-4; 5-6; 7-10. Children Only, no parental assistance. Sponsored by Beta Sigma Phi, Tuscola Chamber of Commerce, Tuscola Moose Lodge, Women of the Moose & the Tuscola Woman’s Club. Rain date: April 23.
3rd Annual Monticello Recreation Easter Egg Hunt: April 16. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. at Burke Park (by Aquatic Center); hunt begins at 10 a.m. $1/child. For ages 10 and under; two age divisions will be held.
Asta Care Center of Ford County Egg Hunt: Saturday, April 16, at 10 a.m., featuring lots of candy and prizes. The event is open to the public. The nursing home is located at 1240 N. Market St., Paxton.
St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce Easter Egg Hunt: Saturday, April 16, 10 a.m. at Kolb Park. Join the Easter Bunny for this free hunt – but be prompt! The kids grab the eggs fast. Please bring your own basket or sack to pick up eggs; for ages 1-8.
Champaign County Nursing Home Easter Egg Hunt: Saturday, April 16, 10 a.m. There will be three age groups 0-3, 4-6, 7-9. There will be lots of eggs to find with additional prizes to be given away. Hop on over for a fun time.
Egg-stravaganza: The Bunny will make a stop at Prairie Fields Park in Savoy on April 16. Ages 1-4, 10:00 am; ages 5-8, 10:30 am. Free; no registration required. For more information, call (217) 359-3550.
Meadowbrook Community Church 11th Annual Easter Carnival and Egg Hunt: April 16 from noon to 2 p.m. For children up to age 12. Admission is free; at registration, every child will receive a coupon for a free hot dog, chips and drink.
Midwest Believers Church Easter Egg Hunt: April 16 at 1 p.m. Includes free hot dogs, chips, drinks and treats! Prizes too. Rain date: April 23. at Midwest Believers Church, 3311 S. Philo Road, Urbana.
Grace United Methodist Church Easter Egg Hunt: For children ages 3 years through 3rd grade, 1 p.m., April 16. Held rain or shine at Grace United Methodist Church, 2004 Philo Rd., Urbana, across the street from Family Video Store.
“Scramble for Charity” Spring Egg Hunt: 3rd Annual Charity Event Presented by The Council of Presidents & the University of Illinois College of Business. Register (online) in advance for $10; $15 on the day of the event. Registration starts at 1 p.m.; hunt at 2 p.m. One free child admission with each adult admission. Prizes include gift cards and flat screen TVs. Raises funds for Kiva International. At the grass field directly south of the Business Instructional Facility, 515 E. Gregory Drive.
Champaign First Church of the Nazarene Easter Egg Hunt: Sunday, April 17. Activities include temporary tattoos, pictures with the Easter Bunny, Giveaways, and the Easter Egg Hunt! Registration begins at 10:00 a.m. Hunt scheduled for 10:45 a.m. 2403 W. Kirby Ave. Champaign
Crisis Nursery Spring Celebration: Saturday, April 23 at 10 a.m, featuring egg decorating and a treasure hunt. The Public Relations Assocation from the University of Illinois will sponsor an egg decorating activity. For the treasure hunt, stickers, candy and other surprises will be hidden in the Nursery and in the yard. Families with children under six years old are invited to attend.
Friendship Lutheran Church of Joy‘s 3rd Annual Easter Egg Hunt: Saturday April 23 from 10 am – noon. Join us for egg hunting (1-12 years old), crafts and story time 3601 S. Duncan Rd, Champaign Corner of Duncan & Curtis Rd.

Champaign Park District’s 21st Annual Egg Hunt: Head to West Side Park on April 23 at 11 a.m. (sharp) in downtown Champaign where thousands of eggs wait to be found. For children ages 12 and under; divided into age groups. Free. NOTE: hay rack rides cancelled (only the hay rack rides, egg hunt will go on!)
Douglas Park Egg Hunt: Noon, April 23, for ages 1 to 8. The egg hunt will start promptly at noon – remember your basket for all your goodies. Sponsored by Champaign Park District; free.
