So the big day is coming up this Sunday, and you’ve been procrastinating. What do you buy the favorite dad in your life? Be it your dad, your husband, your son, your uncle, or your grandpa, we’ve got a few ideas for some last-minute purchases that dad will love.
We asked some local merchants to give us their top picks for Father’s Day gifts. The only restriction: we asked that the items be under $50. Here’s some of our favorites (hint hint):
For the dad who loves coffee: It’s hard to resist the taste of Intelligentsia Coffee beans (did you know Intelligentsia Coffee was founded in Chicago? You can even tour their roasting facility on the West side), especially when used with a special coffee press. For the fashionista dad: OK, so most dads aren’t fashionistas, but they are particular about they wear (at least mine is). If your favorite dad is a little on the preppy side, try these shoes from Sperry. They retail for $55 at Bella Mia, 1422 S. Neil St., Champaign, but this week mention chambanamoms.com and get a 30 percent discount. OK, where’s the nearest lake?
For the outdoorsy dad: Does your favorite dad like to hike, bike, fish, canoe or camp? Then this is a must-have accessory that will help keep his essentials dry (such as a sleeping bag for overnight trips, or other important items on day trips).
