We discovered Sholem Aquatic Center during our first summer here, when it felt like the sun might burn us right off the face of the planet. No joke — Chambana summers are just hotter, folks, am I right?
Anyways, coming from a city that eshews the public pool, I was blown away by the quality and size of Sholem. A water slide! Lazy river! A built-in slide and sprinklers for the little ones! Zero-depth entry!
A-mazing.
Fast forward four years (OMG, how did that happen? Four years!) and I planned to take my son for some special mommy time at the pool on a weekday morning. Actually, it was an evil plan to wear him out for a long nap, but he was none the wiser.
Sadly, when I looked up the hours, I saw that they fell squarely during naptime, opening at 12:30 p.m. Then Laura mentioned that Sholem has special hours at their kiddie pool, which is a segregated, smaller area just for tots. Lo and behold, I called, and she was right.
The kiddie pool at Sholem Aquatic Center is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.! Who knew? Not me. We hot-footed it over there, and no one else in town must know about this, either, because the parking lot (and the pool for that matter) were almost empty.
Wait a minute — maybe I shouldn’t have told you. Oh well, too late now. Cat’s out of the bag. I’ll see you there!

We love this feature; it also has different pricing than the regular hours and I believe kids 3 and under are free, I believe.
