Moms work 365 days of the year. There is no vacation, there are no sick days. Got a cold, need a break? Psh! Too bad, lady, someone needs a cup of apple juice.
Don’t get me wrong, we moms love our jobs. Work out of the home, work in the home, stay at home — whatever flavor we happen to be, we wouldn’t trade our lives — or our families — for anything.
We also love Mother’s Day. Cards! Gifts! Scrambled eggs made by preschoolers (um, yum?)! A holiday just for us? We’re blushing.
Another reason we love Mother’s Day? We love our own mothers. Having children gives us such a deep appreciation for everything our moms did for us. Looking back, I honestly don’t know how my own mother manged. But she did.
Because that is what moms do, y’all.
Laura and I spent some time last week talking about Mother’s Day gifts with the lovely ladies over at WCFN 49 News, and what moms really want on their special day is time and thoughtfulness:

- Chose a mom to nominate — and remember, it can be anyone who is a mom, including yourself.

- Upload your canvases to the contest page.
- Using the many sharing options provided, invite your friends to view your canvas to vote for your canvas. (Post it to your social network profile; send a Tweet; email it to Aunt Gertrude and Uncle Harry; post it in your blog. Spread the word and gather votes!)
- Voting will close at 11:55 p.m. Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 9.
The top 10 vote-getters will go on to be judged by a panel of celebrities and experts, and they will all receive a special, limited-edition chambanamoms.com T-shirt.
