My favorite childhood movie was Wizard of OZ. My 8 year old son shares my love for this movie as well, and would love to see it live on stage.

  2. Nicole Dickerson says:

My favorite classic movie from my childhood is ET. I remember going to the theatre to see it and being scared at first and by the time it was over wanting an ET for my very own! The most special part of it was that my Grandma took me to see it and she recently passed away. Thanks for helping me be reminded of that memory! :-)

  3. Jenny Dalton says:

My all time favorite movie is Wizard of Oz! It has been since I was a little girl. I have all kinds of Wizard of Oz stuff in my house, my Hubby even bought me all of the McD’s toys, lol. My favorite is the Wicked Witch and her stuff is harder to find, but I like the challenge!! I’d really love to see this show, but we can’t afford to buy tickets to it right now…money is tight thanks to this economy. Thanks for the chance to win tix though! :o )

  4. Carrie says:

My favorite movie from childhood was Mary Poppins. It has been nice passing that movie on to my kids.

  5. April Thorpe says:

Gone With the Wind was my all time favorite movie growing up (and it still is).

  6. Oh my – It is hard to select just one….I would say Wizard of Oz for a classic film. I also liked Goonies, Girls Just Want To Have Fun, and many of the Disney cartoons.

  7. Heather Baker says:

That is hard to pick just one. I would have to say Snow White.

  8. Christa says:

    The Fox and the Hound.

  9. Carrie says:

Favorite film? No contest! Willy Wonka. The singing and the dancing and the colors and, although as an adult Gene Wilder creeps me out a little, his dry wit and humor were perfect for that character.

  10. Dana Kennedy says:

Annie… gotta love a rags to riches story and the way that girl fights for her rights and the rights of others.

  11. Jessica Zanton says:

When I was very young, I went with my dad to see the film version of Annie at a movie theater. Very exciting! That movie will always be a favorite of mine!

  12. Jennifer Seder says:

The first movies I went to were Bambi and Old Yeller. I was young and left the theater wondering if all movies are sad.

  13. Zoe says:

Definately Willie Wonka! I love all the characters! Wizard of Oz, would have to be second though!

  14. Dana says:

Hmmm, I hope Goonies counts because I don’t remember seeing many of the traditional children’s movies, and I definitely loved Goonies. :)

  15. Annette says:

Charlotte’s Web, in the movie theater after reading the book 100 times. I grew up in a small town in the days before cable so I didn’t have the access to movies that my children have now. The Wizard of Oz used to scare the mess out of me every year when it came on TV, especially when those flying monkeys were going to get Toto! As a kid, I couldn’t watch any movies where something was going to happen to the dog, and even now I find a reason to step out of the room when those evil monkeys appear! They surely can’t be THAT scary in a live performance… :)

  16. Kristin VanDuyne says:

I always loved Cinderella – I was the fairy godmother for Halloween 3 years in a row!

  17. Emily Bayci says:

SPACE JAM!!! I mean, the music, bugs Bunny, basketball, MJ. How could you ask for anything else in the world? Whenever I had a bad day, even now, Space Jam makes things better.

  18. Wizard of Oz is indeed a classic. But Return to Oz (1985) ruled! It scared the honey nut cheerios out of my littlest sister, which made my 4th/5th grade self enjoy it even more! I wheeeeeeeel behave! I wheeeeeel!

But maybe that’s not old/classic enough for this survey.

For a classic? The original Babes in Toyland is an awesome underappreciated classic kids movie that I highly recommend! Especially if you have a soft spot for cheesy musicals like I do!

  19. Emily Hays says:

My all time favorite was The Sound of Music!

  20. Celina says:

Mary Poppins! The music, the dancing, the live action plus animation…you just can’t go wrong!

  21. Sarah Loomis says:

It is so hard to pick a favorite! Every year I looked forward to seeing The Wizard of Oz on tv. It seemed as though it came on the same time every year. Same thing with The Sound of Music. I’d have to say that is my all-time favorite!

  22. holly melby says:

willy wonka and chocolate factory! thankfully, my 2-year old is a fan now, too. we watch it all the time in our house!

  23. Amy says:

“Annie” was my favorite film as a child. I watched it over and over again. It drove my sister nuts. :)

  24. Adria Hamel says:

We watched Wizard of Oz once a year at Christmas time because that is what my mom did as a kid! The wicked witch and the monkeys scared the pants off me but, it was so magical otherwise! As a teenager I enjoyed watching it paired with Pink Floyd’s Dark side of the moon! My favorite movie as a kiddo was An American Tale. I cried every time I watched it. I had a Fivel doll that slept in my bed with me until I graduated college and was married. I still have him in my closet along side my original glo worm and Snoopy!

  25. Amber Stivers-Anders says:

Gotta be return of the Jedi. I have vague recollections of walking down Green Street to go see it at the coed. Growing up, if Jedi came on TV, I dropped what I was doing and watched it. (And my mom did too).

  26. Rachel says:

My favorite movies as a child were To Kill a Mockingbird and Coal Miner’s Daughter. Not really kid movies, but I watched them constantly!

  27. Angie says:

Tough call! It is so close between Annie and Willy Wonka with Wizard of Oz being 3rd.

Probably would have to go with Annie though!

  28. Keri says:

My favorite childhood film was Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

  29. Laura says:

Hands down, one of my favorite movies has always been the wonderful Wizard of Oz! I recall watching it every Thanksgiving and can still hear the special music that would signal the start of feature programming on the television station. We didn’t have cable growing up so a favorite movie being shown on a major network was a huge deal! My sisters and I would get to eat a bowl of ice cream in the living room and stay up late to watch the whole show! Perhaps what I love even more than the movie itself is the memeories it stirs in me. After-all, there’s no place like home!!! :-)

  30. Christine says:

The classics are the best! But my top picks are Willy Wonka, ET, Annie, and the Wizard of Oz. I use to have all the main characters from the Wizard of Oz made out of soda cans!

  31. Scott K says:

I know it’s odd, but I saw “Citizen Kane” as a freshman in high school for a journalism class I was taking. It just knocked me over and continues to be my all-time favorite movie.

  32. Kim O'Connor says:

Favorite movie had to be Wizard of Oz. You waited each year for it to come on TV…it was the best!!!

  33. Bethany Davis says:

My favorite childhood movie is the Eileen Quinn version of “Annie”. My sister and I would lay in front of the record player listening to the soundtrack and sharing the album liner notes.

  34. Angi Jones says:

My favorite classic movie is the Sound of Music. My entire family love that movie.

  35. JoAnne Geigner says:

The one movie I always watched was Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I wished for that contest to be real and I was the kid who won.

  36. Lisa Bayer says:

The original Parent Trap with Hayley Mills and Brian Keith. I always thought that maybe my parents would get back together, too. Awwww.

  37. Michelle Paisley says:

It was definitely Wizard of Oz…it was always a big deal every year when that movie came on. :)

  38. Leisha Beasley says:

My favorite was Willa Wonka, I can still watch it over and over!
