Hi, I know this is out-of-date, but I just wanted to let anyone looking at this recipe that the beer Guinness, despite it's delicious flavor, is not vegetarian nor vegan. It is brewed in a traditional method that requires the use of animal byproducts, thus making it non-veg. For this, I would definitely recommend another stout beer, or even a kelp ale, like Kelpie (from Scotland), if you wanted to make it TRULY vegetarian/vegan. Cheers!

Of course I forgot to mention to season with salt and pepper, to taste. We only needed a pinch more salt, as the soy sauce offers plenty.
