Looks like math isn’t so hard for Barbie after all, considering that she has a new career as a computer engineer ahead of her.
Mattel announced at the New York Toy Fair last week that the blond bombshell will make her way to work sporting a cardigan and a blue-tooth ear piece, swinging her pink laptop bag.
This is a woman who can’t make up her mind — astronaut, supermodel and veterinarian are all lines on her resume. But we do like a lady who explores all her options.
Computer Engineer Barbie was chosen by more than a half-million Barbie fans, who gave her the overall popular vote. Other choices on the ballot included TV news anchor, surgeon and environmentalist.
The doll will sport a smart phone and a T-shirt emblazoned with binary code, accessories that were chosen with help from members of the Society of Women Engineers and the National Academy of Engineering, according to the New York Times.
While Barbie may still be an antiquated vision of the female ideal in terms of body type and appearance, she certainly has come a long way from her days as an aerobics instructor.
And besides, it’s OK to be pretty and smart — I know my little girl is.
What do you think of the new Barbie?

I’m glad that we have a smart Barbie role model now, but they (obviously) should have mader her a brunette.
