So you’ve been cooped up in your house due to the big storm. This weekend, it’s time to relieve that cabin fever. We have a few ideas for the indoor and outdoor enthusiasts alike, and they’re all FREE! In this edition: Star Wars Celebration at CPL; sledding at Homer Lake Forest Preserve; and klezmer music, another great CPL program.
What: Star Wars Celebration
Where: Champaign Public Library
When: 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9
How Much: Free
Appropriate For: School-age children
Why You Should Go: Grab your light sabers and head over to the library dressed in costume. Fellow Star Wars fans will you join for trivia, crafts, and games. Special guests from the 501st Legion’s Midwest Garrison: Vader’s Fist.

Where: Homer Lake Forest Preserve’s Sled Hill
When: dawn to dusk
How Much: Free
Appropriate For: All Ages (depending on your equipment)
Why You Should Go: Get a change of scenery and take the kids out to Homer Lake Forest Preserve. Stop in the Environmental Education Center when you need to warm up, check Web site for open hours.

What: Global Rhythms: Little Oy on the Prairie
Where: Champaign Public Library
When: 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10
How Much: Free
Appropriate For: All Ages
Why You Should Go: Klezmer music is very accessible for kids, with upbeat rhythms and lots of repetition. And it’s just a lot of fun. If you miss Little Oy on the Prairie at CPL, they will be playing at Urbana Free Library at 6:30 p.m. Thursday Wednesday as part of the Prairie Breezes Mini Concert series for kids.
