When we went to bed last night, the winds, they were a-screaming, folks. It was c-c-c-cold out there, babies. When the weather is this bad it’s easy to grouse and moan about the snow and the rain and did I mention the wind? According to the good people on WILL, we had “tropical storm force winds” yesterday, without the benefit of the “tropical.”
But we’re still counting our blessings here at chambanamoms.com, and we invite you to do the same for our weekly Thankful Thursday.
Amy is grateful for her wonderful babysitter, Joanna, who makes it so easy for her to work without worrying about who is taking care of Emmie and Henry.
Laura is thankful to have a mother-in-law with whom I enjoy spending time. She drove several hours to visit us this week and help take care of our little one.
What are you grateful for this December Thursday? Your Wet Swiffer? Your woolly mittens? Holiday cookies? Tell us, Chambana minds want to know.

After seeing the movie Blind Side last night, I am sooo thankful for having a roof over my head with a comfy bed. During these cold nights, my family is warm and safe; we are blessed.
Here’s what I shared on Twitter yesterday:
“just a few hrs w/out heat, electricity, internet is a great reminder to be grateful for all that we do have (& to care for those who don’t).”
I was actually feeling a bit sorry for myself yesterday. My work day was interrupted when my daughter’s school called because they had no power. Then we went home and discovered we didn’t have power, either. I needed to do work and stay warm and make lunch! But then I realized how lucky I was to have leftover lasagna, a gas stove, and an entertaining lunch mate.
We are so spoiled with so many things that we consider to be “small” and others would be so thrilled to have.
My cheap cinnamon scented candles from Meijer that I found today. It makes the house smell nice and Christmasy. : )
Today I went to a recital by the Prairieland Consort at the Carle Mills Breast Cancer Institute because a friend was playing flute with them. I am thankful for the effect of music on my soul. I was touched in ways I never seem to be in any other situation. The intimacy of the setting and the beauty of the music was the perfect combination. Oh, and despite being less than 20 degrees, it is SUNNY today!
I am thankful for my husband, for my children, and for our health.
for sunny, cozy, lazy Saturday morning. Kids playing with legos, dogs frolicking on the carpet, hubby sleeping peacefully, while I goof off on the internet.
Thankful Thursday is a great idea. In fact, I think I might steal it:) Gotta love the attitude of gratitude.
