Drive-Through Toy Drive Dec. 9

There's an easy way to give this Wednesday.
Earlier today, we focused our attention on ways to encourage your kids to be grateful. One obvious way to do that during the holidays is to encourage your children to be generous with others — generous of possessions, spirit and time.
We know of an easy way to get your children in the swing of this season of gratitude — take a toy to Wednesday’s All-Day Drive-Thru Toy Collection at WDWS/WHMS radio studios, 2301 S. Neil St., Champaign. New, unwrapped toys and gift cards for infants, children and teens, as well as cash donations, will be accepted from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for needy families in east central Illinois as part of the Carle/Salvation Army Toy Drive, a community service project of Carle Foundation Hospital, Carle Clinic Association, and WDWS/WHMS.
So what should you give? Carle has a list of desired items. But before you go out to the store, take a look in your own home. I know I have brand spankin’ new, never-been-opened toys in our gift closet — things my daughters received as gifts that we already had, or gifts I purchased that never quite made it to the intended recipient for whatever reason.
The combination of the drive-thru — a parent’s best friend — with philanthropy makes this a can’t-miss opportunity to instill a life lesson and holiday memory with your child.
Tell us about the wonderful ways you are giving back this holiday season in the comments section below.
