Monday Sound Off!

893383_megafoneSo here we are, it’s not even December yet and already the holiday madness has begun. Black Friday, Cyber Monday … who says the economy is in trouble? Are the crowds making you crazy? How about your credit-card interest rates? What about all the weight you gained eating turkey last week?

Unburden yourselves, friends. Tell us what’s on your mind. Get it off your chest! It’s time for chamabanamoms.com Monday Sound Off!

Amy wants to know why when she gets sick, she always gets sicker than anyone else in her family. She also has a feeling that there are certain people in her household (baby Henry, she’s looking at you) who are happy that she can barely croak, let alone yell “No! No! No! NO!” when they touch the Christmas tree ornaments.

Laura wants to know, when a crew was working at the corner of Kirby and Neil and that stoplight was out of service for several hours, why there was no police officer or other person directing traffic. It’s been about 10 days since this happened, and it’s still stuck in my craw.

Your turn: Tell us what’s bugging you on this last day of November.

    1. The jerks at the intersection of Prospect and Devonshire who never, ever seem to follow the rules of 4 way stop signs, even though it is a really dangerous intersection and they don’t seem to notice that. There should be a stoplight there.
    2. The desperate ugliness of C-U at this time of year, bested only by C-U in late February.
    3. Not enough paying work for freelancers in this town.
    4. Holier than thou family values parents. Ugh.
    5. Why is my husband pressuring me to get all the Christmas presents organized today? I can barely bring myself to think about it.
    6. Is this called a bad case of the Mondays? I feel better already.

Although I love spending time at the in-laws all weekend, now am behind with the laundry, we still don’t have our Christmas decorations up, the house is a wreck, and I have a wicked, wicked headache this morning.

  3. That my non-baby-care time is so limited that I can only do one productive thing a day. So it’s exercise, or grocery shop, or do a load of laundry, or prep dinner, or write – but not any two things.

  4. Margo Dill says:

What bugs me is how interested we are in celebrities’ lives (and I am just as guilty) instead of in the lives of people that we know or care about or are in our family, etc. Of course, Tiger Woods is coming to mind at the present moment, but next week, it will be someone else.

  5. Grumpy Mom, I totally agree on the corner of Prospect and Devonshire. I live right near there!

the Borders.com website– why advertise such great deals if your stupid site is too overwhelmed to let me check out??

  7. Christa says:

The combination of winter coats, boots, children and car seats.

Laura, I have even talked with the po-lice about that intersection and have seen them monitoring it once in a while, but it clearly is not a priority. I don’t know what it takes to put in a light there, but it may be really difficult. It’s just such an extraordinarily difficult intersection, with the 4 lanes crossing 2 lanes and people in a hurry, etc. Maybe there are near-misses there, but not very many actual accidents, and that is the fortunate (or unfortunate) problem!
